“Peter Obi Should Have Listened to My Advice. Obi, You Are in the Wrong Political Party” — Ayodele

According to a video shared by Primate Elijah Ayodele on his official Facebook page on October 9, 2026, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church has told Peter Obi that he should have listened to his political advice, insisting that the former Anambra State governor is in the wrong political party.

Speaking in the video, Ayodele said: “Obi should have listened to my advice. Obi, you are in the wrong political party.”

The cleric’s statement comes as Obi prepares for the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), following a series of political moves involving the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Obi contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, where he emerged as a prominent opposition figure. However, ahead of the next general election, he left the Labour Party and joined the ADC on December 31, 2025, before subsequently leaving the ADC for the NDC in May 2026.

The former governor’s move to the NDC followed disagreements and concerns surrounding the political situation within the ADC. Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso subsequently joined the NDC, presenting the party as their platform for pursuing their political ambitions ahead of the 2027 election.

On May 30, 2026, the NDC unveiled Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. He also announced Kwankwaso as his running mate, establishing the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the campaign period.

Ayodele’s latest remarks raise questions about his assessment of Obi’s decision to pursue his presidential ambition through the NDC. Although the cleric maintained that Obi should have listened to his advice, the available quotation does not specify which political party he believes the former governor should have joined instead.
