Mahama Tells Ghanaians The Truth About What He Did In The Past
President John Dramani Mahama has shared a humorous childhood memory about secretly drinking milk from the refrigerator, reflecting on the special place Ideal Milk has held in Ghanaian homes over the years.
The President recounted the experience on Thursday, October 8, 2026, during the commissioning of an upgraded production line at NestlĂ© Ghana Limited’s factory in Tema.
Speaking at the event, Mr Mahama highlighted the product’s longstanding popularity among Ghanaian families, noting its use in everyday meals and beverages, including tea, koko and rice water.
He recalled that the milk was not only enjoyed during mealtimes but also became part of childhood mischief, as children would sometimes sneak to the refrigerator for an extra serving after their mothers had put it away.
The President also reflected on how families made efforts to use every remaining drop of milk from opened tins, illustrating the product’s familiarity in households across generations.
His anecdote added a personal and nostalgic element to the ceremony, drawing attention to the connection between established consumer brands and the everyday experiences of Ghanaians.
Beyond his childhood recollections, Mr Mahama acknowledged NestlĂ© Ghana’s longstanding contribution to the country’s industrial development and manufacturing sector.
The newly upgraded production line is expected to raise the factory’s annual production capacity from approximately 12,960 tonnes to nearly 30,000 tonnes, significantly expanding its output.
The investment is also expected to strengthen local production, create opportunities for employment and support the government’s 24-hour economy agenda by increasing manufacturing activity.
Mr Mahama stressed the importance of investments that enable businesses to produce more goods locally, reduce reliance on imported products and stimulate economic growth.
His recollection of sneaking milk from the refrigerator provided a light-hearted moment during an event centred on industrial expansion, while underscoring the enduring role of familiar household products in Ghana’s social and cultural life.
