“I Have Overstepped the Boundaries, But I Had to Say It, “Am Sorry” Nyamu Lets Out ODM Secret

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has stirred fresh political debate after claiming that Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja is expected to join the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Nyamu said the information was not supposed to come out yet, suggesting that the announcement was intended to be made at the right time.

Her remarks have added a new twist to speculation over Sakaja’s political plans ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking about the governor’s possible move, Nyamu claimed that Sakaja had already been presented with an ODM cap during the candle-lighting ceremony held at Uhuru Park in honour of the late Raila Odinga.

She said the development was not meant to be revealed publicly at that moment, raising questions about whether discussions between the governor and ODM leaders have progressed further than previously known.

Sakaja’s appearance at the October 2 memorial event had already attracted attention after he accepted an ODM-branded cap from a supporter and wore it before the crowd.

The moment fuelled speculation about his political future, although the governor has not officially announced that he is leaving the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

In August, Sakaja confirmed that he had received invitations from ODM officials and members to join the party.

He said he was consulting different people before making a decision and would consider the wishes of Nairobi residents.

His comments indicated that discussions about his political future were ongoing, but did not confirm a final agreement.

However, Sakaja’s possible entry into ODM could present challenges because some party leaders have insisted that anyone seeking its ticket must participate in competitive nominations.

With the 2027 elections approaching, Nyamu’s latest remarks are likely to intensify attention on the governor’s next move.

For now, her claim remains unconfirmed by an official announcement from Sakaja or ODM, leaving Nairobi’s political future open to further debate.
