Arsenal lineups for Leeds as Viktor Gyokeres agreement reached and Bruno Guimaraes axed

According to a report by Football London on Friday, October 9, 2026, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could start Viktor Gyokeres against Leeds United while Bruno Guimaraes is on the verge of being dropped for Saturday’s Premier League clash.

The Gunners welcome Leeds to the Emirates Stadium on the back of their 3-0 home defeat by Brighton, which came ahead of the international break.

Arteta is also expected to make multiple changes to his starting line-up for the match, due to a number of key players experiencing injuries and fitness issues during the international break.

Despite Leeds’ strong start to the season, Arsenal will be confident of picking up the three points, having won their last eight meetings against their opponents.

Arteta expressed his disappointment at the loss to Brighton, whilst also urging his players to get back to winning ways.

“The message is very clear: we have pain in the tummy for what happened in Brighton. It’s our responsibility, and we need to give to them,”

Football London reporters Ryan Taylor and Jake Stokes have both predicted Gyokeres to spearhead Arsenal’s attack, although their selections differ in other departments.

Taylor believes David Raya should retain his place in goal, with Ben White back in the right-back berth after overcoming a groin issue.

Cristhian Mosquera could also be partnered with Gabriel Magalhaes in central defence, allowing Riccardo Calafiori to complete the back-four.

Meanwhile, Taylor would like to see Declan Rice alongside Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield, with Guimaraes possibly being rested after his busy international schedule and laboured display against Brighton.

Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze would provide the attacking triumvirate alongside Gyokeres in Taylor’s proposed line-up.

Gyokeres has also been chosen as Arsenal’s centre-forward by Stokes, who added that Kai Havertz’ availability was uncertain ahead of the Leeds clash after the Germany international suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty.

Arteta also revealed that Havertz would undergo a late fitness test ahead of the Leeds clash.

Noni Madueke is predictd to start on the left-wing for Arsenal by Stokes, who believes the winger can provide an attacking threat against Leeds’ high press.

Saka and Odegaard would form the attacking trio alongside Gyokeres, with Stokes selecting Mosquera as centre-back partner for Gabriel.

Timber and Calafiori are also selected at full-back, with Rice included in Stokes’ line-up despite the England midfielder withdrawing from his nation’s international fixtures in order to avoid aggravating his injury.
