Gachagua’s Prediction Of Opposition Leaders Joining Ruto Comes True As Orengo Makes Bold Move
Siaya Governor James Orengo has sparked fresh political debate after calling on President William Ruto to engage in dialogue, with his remarks drawing renewed attention to earlier comments by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua about possible shifts within Kenya’s opposition.
Orengo, a veteran opposition politician, reportedly made the remarks while discussing the country’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“Ruto, tutaftane tuonge,” loosely translated as “Ruto, let us meet and talk,” has since generated speculation over what the governor meant by the call for engagement.
The remarks come as political parties and leaders continue positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls, making statements about cooperation between government and opposition figures a subject of close public attention.
However, Orengo has not announced any decision to leave the opposition or join Ruto’s administration. There is also no confirmed information indicating that he is preparing to cross over to the Kenya Kwanza government.
Gachagua had previously suggested that a prominent opposition leader could eventually move closer to Ruto, although he did not identify Orengo.
For now, Orengo’s statement remains a call for dialogue, while its broader political implications remain a matter of public discussion.
