“Doctor Said Sit Down” Oburu Oginga’s Son Reveals Strict Rules for His Dad

ODM leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has been placed on strict medical rest as he continues recovering, his son Jaoko has revealed.

Jaoko delivered the update on Wednesday, October 7, while representing his father at the commissioning of the Raila Odinga Mausoleum in Bondo, Siaya County.

According to Jaoko, doctors have ordered the veteran politician to limit physical engagements and concentrate on recovery. He explained that although his father could not attend the important ceremony, he remained mentally and emotionally connected to the occasion.

The update comes shortly after social media was flooded with claims that Oburu had died. His family, secretariat and ODM officials dismissed the reports, assuring Kenyans that he was alive and recovering.

The situation has nevertheless sparked fresh discussion online, with some social media users demanding clearer communication about the politician’s condition. Others have criticised the rapid spread of unverified health and death reports involving public figures.

Jaoko’s latest remarks appear aimed at calming those concerns, confirming that his father is under doctors’ instructions to rest rather than continue with demanding public engagements.

For now, the family has not disclosed the specific illness or treatment Oburu is undergoing, but Jaoko said his father was recovering and remained engaged with important national matters.
