“I Love You Joy, But Never Cheat” Chilling Message Emerges After Student’s Death
A 23-year-old man, Walter Kipkoech, is in police custody following the alleged murder of 18-year-old Joy Wangui, a student at Molo Secondary School, in a shocking incident that has left the local community mourning.
Police allege that Kipkoech was involved in the teenager’s death and accuse him of beheading her. Detectives investigating the case reportedly discovered a disturbing message written in blood on a wall at the scene. The message allegedly read, “I love you Joy, but never cheat. I’m sorry.”
Investigators are treating the message as a possible clue as they seek to establish what led to the teenager’s death. While the words appear to suggest a relationship dispute involving jealousy or accusations of infidelity, police have not confirmed the motive and investigations remain ongoing.
Joy’s death has sparked grief among her friends, classmates, neighbours and members of the wider community. Those who knew her have described her as a bright young student with ambitions and a promising future. Her sudden death has prompted calls for a thorough investigation and justice for her family.
The incident has also renewed concerns over violence against women and girls, particularly in situations involving controlling behaviour, jealousy and relationship disputes. Advocates have urged young people experiencing threats or controlling relationships to seek help from trusted adults, teachers, relatives or authorities before situations escalate.
Parents and teachers have similarly been encouraged to have open conversations with teenagers about healthy relationships, consent, respect and peaceful conflict resolution.
Detectives are continuing to interview witnesses, process the crime scene and collect forensic evidence expected to help establish the circumstances surrounding Joy’s death. Kipkoech is expected to be presented in court as investigators seek further time, if required, to complete their inquiries.
Police have emphasised that Kipkoech remains a suspect and is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
As Joy’s relatives and school community come to terms with the tragedy, friends and neighbours are offering support to the bereaved family. Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist investigators to report to the nearest police station.
