Mama Ida Odinga Issues Fresh Update on Oburu’s Health Status After Meeting Ruto in Bondo
Fresh hope has emerged over the health of ODM Party Leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga after his family continued to ask Kenyans to pray for his recovery.
Speaking amid growing public concern over Oburu’s health, Ida Odinga expressed confidence that he would soon return to those around him.
“I know we will continue to pray for Oburu, and soon he will be with us again,” Ida said, offering a message of hope to the family, friends and supporters who have been following his condition.
The remarks come at a time when the country has been closely monitoring Oburu’s health after reports about his condition spread on social media.
Oburu’s office has since dismissed reports claiming that the veteran politician had died. His secretariat said he was alive, safe and in good spirits, while confirming that he was following doctors’ advice to rest and limit heavy engagements.
ODM officials have also moved to reassure the public. Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga said she had been with Oburu and that he was recovering steadily and remained in high spirits.
The latest developments also explain why Oburu was missing from the official handover of the late Raila Odinga’s mausoleum at Kang’o ka Jaramogi in Bondo on Wednesday, October 7.
According to reports from the event, Raila Odinga Junior conveyed Oburu’s apologies to those gathered, as the senator remained away while recovering.
The mausoleum handover has brought together family members, political leaders and other guests in Siaya as the country continues to remember Raila, who died in October 2025.
For now, the message from the Odinga family is clear: Oburu remains under care and prayers are being offered for his full recovery.
Kenyans continue to hope that the veteran politician will regain his strength and return to public life soon.
