That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Monday.

Rochester police responded to the report of the victim being assaulted with the bat on Saturday afternoon at an apartment complex in the city.

Responding officers found the alleged assailant, identified as 46-year-old Douglas Laquandis Baskerville, holding a bat.

Baskerville is accused of striking the victim in the head with the bat approximately seven times, according to the complaint.

He’s alleged to have struck the victim after she became upset over him using her vehicle, the court document says. The charges also state an infant and juvenile were in the residence at the time of the alleged assault.

The complaint says the victim was bleeding and had a laceration on her head.

Responding officers also found a “large amount of blood droplets” at the apartment’s front door, in the living room, bathroom and down the hall.

There was also blood on the walls, according to the complaint.

Baskerville told officers the victim struck him with the bat and denied hitting her, the court document says.

He is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Baskerville is due to make his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
