Coroner identifies pedestrian killed in Dillon crash
DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Dillon County coroner released the name of a pedestrian who died in a Friday night crash.
Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley said 44-year-old Jermain Smith of Marion County died as a result of the crash.
It happened around 10:45 p.m. on US-301 near the intersection of East Countryside Road.
A 2015 Chevy Malibu was traveling south on US-301, and a pedestrian was walking north in the southbound lanes of US-301 and was hit, Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
The three people in the car, the driver and two passengers, were not injured, Bennett said.
Smith died at the scene from his injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating.
