Matiangi Forced To Address Past Video He Breached Presidential Protocol To Welcome Uhuru Before Ruto

Former Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has officially cleared the air regarding a viral past incident where he appeared to breach state protocol by receiving former President Uhuru Kenyatta ahead of then-Deputy President William Ruto.

The contentious event, which generated intense political debate for years, took place during an official government function in Manyani, Taita Taveta County.

Speaking live on Msenangu FM in Nyali, Mombasa County, during the morning Breakfast Show hosted by Medza Mwangemi and Oscar Nyoha, Matiang’i has offered a detailed, firsthand perspective on what truly transpired on that day.

Political observers and citizens alike have long viewed the airport greeting as a deliberate public snub toward the Deputy President Ruto, but the former Interior chief has firmly dismissed those political narratives.

According to Dr. Matiang’i, the sequence of events has been widely misinterpreted by the public. He has clarified that cabinet officials were specifically requested to step forward and welcome President Kenyatta as he disembarked from his chopper.

At that precise moment, then-Deputy President Ruto was engaged in a phone call inside his official vehicle.

Matiang’i has stressed that by the time Ruto stepped out of his car and joined the reception line, the formal greeting process had already been set into motion.

Rather than a calculated breach of protocol or an intentional political slight, Matiang’i has maintained that the unfolding events have simply been a matter of timing and misaligned logistical coordination.

By addressing the hosts and listeners across the nation, he has effectively dismantled years of speculation surrounding his relationship with the state machinery of that era.

This candid radio appearance has finally placed the long-standing controversy into proper context, shedding clear light on a moment that has dominated political discussions for years.
