FIA offloads woman at Karachi Airport over suspected human trafficking
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Karachi has offloaded a woman passenger travelling to the United Arab Emirates over suspected human trafficking and sexual exploitation, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the woman, identified as Iman, was travelling on a Pakistani passport and a valid UAE visa.
However, immigration officials became suspicious about the purpose of her trip and stopped her for further questioning.
During a detailed interview, the woman allegedly told FIA officials that her travel was linked to sexual exploitation.
According to the FIA, Iman said that a man named Haider, who is based in Dubai, had previously arranged her travel to the UAE.
She alleged that he had arranged accommodation for her and secured work for her as a dancer at a club.
The woman further alleged that Haider took 50% of her earnings and had also arranged her current trip to Dubai.
The woman also alleged that Haider had been threatening her and pressuring her to travel to Dubai and engage in prostitution.
She claimed that he threatened to harm her and her mother if she refused.
The FIA offloaded the woman and handed her over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi for further investigation and legal action.
The agency said it was also investigating the suspected facilitators and other individuals who may have been involved in the alleged human trafficking network.
