Bad News for Sifuna, Matiang’i and Gachagua as Ndindi Changes Tone, Reveals the 6th President
Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has outlined an education agenda he says he would implement if elected president in the 2027 election and takes over from President William Ruto.
Free education is a major part of Nyoro’s proposed programme, alongside measures aimed at improving access to learning and reducing the financial burden on families.
Nyoro has said his administration would introduce free secondary education from January 2028. He has also proposed providing meals to learners as part of efforts to improve school attendance and ensure children remain in school.
According to the MP, the proposed free secondary education programme would apply to public day secondary schools. He said funding would come from a combination of resources from the national government, county governments and the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
Nyoro has previously identified education as an important area of national development. During his time in Parliament, he has called for increased attention to teachers, learning institutions and education financing.
He has also raised concerns over delays and shortfalls in government capitation, arguing that schools require timely and adequate funding to operate effectively and provide quality education to learners.
Nyoro’s education proposals are also linked to initiatives implemented in his Kiharu constituency, where learners have benefited from bursaries and other forms of support, including assistance for students in public day secondary schools.
The MP has cited such initiatives as examples of measures that could be expanded across the country to make education more accessible to Kenyan families.
Beyond education, Nyoro has said a government under his leadership would focus on healthcare, job creation, manufacturing and broader economic growth. He has also called for opposition leaders to work together ahead of the 2027 general election.
Nyoro has declared his intention to challenge President Ruto in the presidential race and has expressed his readiness to lead the country.
However, the 2027 election is yet to take place, meaning the outcome of the presidential contest remains undecided.
If elected, Nyoro says his proposed education reforms would begin after he assumes office, with free secondary education forming a key part of his agenda.
