Just In: Oburu Odinga Admitted to Nairobi Hospital Again Days After Returning From the UK

Fresh concerns have emerged over the health of ODM leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga as the veteran politician continues with his recovery after recent medical treatment.

Oburu has been away from active public engagements in recent weeks, raising questions among supporters and political allies. However, the latest update from ODM officials indicates that he is recovering and remains involved in the affairs of the party.

Speaking on Sunday, October 4, Homa Bay Governor and ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga said she had visited Oburu after his return to Kenya. She described him as being in high spirits but said he still needed enough time to regain his strength.

Wanga urged Kenyans not to expect Oburu to immediately return to his busy political schedule, saying recovery should be given priority.

The update comes shortly after Oburu spent several weeks in the United Kingdom for medical attention. He had travelled to the UK in September after advice from his doctors and party leadership for a comprehensive medical assessment and rest.

Oburu returned to Kenya on September 25 and has since been recovering away from the political spotlight.

Earlier, he had also been treated at Nairobi Hospital after falling ill. At the time, he confirmed that he had been admitted and later discharged, while asking Kenyans to avoid speculation about his health.

The specific illness affecting the veteran politician has not been publicly disclosed, despite reports and speculation surrounding his condition.

His absence comes at an important time for ODM, which is preparing several political activities across the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Wanga has maintained that there is no leadership vacuum in ODM, saying Oburu continues to guide the party despite taking time to recover.

As Kenyans await his full return to public engagements, ODM officials have asked supporters to give him enough time to regain his strength.
