Investigation underway after shooting involving officer on I-65 in Chilton County

CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – An investigation is underway after a shooting involving a officer in Chilton County early Sunday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office said they and Clanton Police were involved in the shooting on I-65.

The sheriff’s office said no deputies or officers were injured during the shooting and that they have requested the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) to conduct an independent investigation into the shooting.

The Chilton County sheriff told WBRC the suspect was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital.

Officials said an investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
