“If We Won’t Unite, Ruto is Going to Win” Babu Owino Message to Kalonzo and Sifuna

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has sent a strong message to opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Edwin Sifuna, urging them to unite if they hope to mount a formidable challenge against President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

Babu warned that continued divisions within the opposition could work in Ruto’s favour, calling on leaders to prioritise unity as political negotiations gain momentum.

“If we won’t unite, Ruto is going to win,” Babu said, stressing the importance of bringing together opposition leaders and their respective support bases ahead of the polls.

His remarks come at a time when several opposition formations are exploring possible alliances, with discussions focusing on how different parties and political movements can coordinate their efforts ahead of 2027.

Kalonzo, the Wiper Democratic Movement leader, has been at the centre of efforts to establish the Ukombozi Alliance, while Sifuna has increasingly featured in discussions surrounding the Linda Mwananchi movement and a possible new political vehicle.

Babu has maintained that opposition leaders should avoid allowing individual ambitions to derail efforts to build a broader political coalition.

The legislator’s latest comments are likely to add pressure on leaders involved in the ongoing negotiations, particularly as questions over who should lead a possible opposition alliance remain unresolved.

The push for unity comes as political parties begin laying the groundwork for the 2027 election, with leaders seeking to consolidate regional and national support.

For the opposition, the coming months could prove crucial as negotiations over coalition structures, leadership and a possible joint presidential ticket gather pace.

Babu’s warning therefore underscores the growing calls for opposition leaders to settle their differences and agree on a common strategy before the 2027 campaign enters its most competitive phase.
