‘That Young Pastor Was Not Meant To Die’ – Prophet Oduro On Elisha Osei’s Funeral Saga

Prophet Kofi Oduro has caused a stir on social media after questioning the circumstances surrounding the death and funeral of young Ghanaian pastor Elisha Osei.

In a post shared on social media and reported by GhanaWeb on October 2, 2026, the cleric said he did not believe Osei was supposed to die at the time of his death.

Oduro disputed the belief that the pastor’s death should be described as God calling him home. He argued that not every death involving a minister should automatically be attributed to divine intervention.

The preacher used strong language in describing the death and insisted that God was not responsible for it.

“God didn’t call anyone. Foolish deaths have now entered the church, and even young pastors are dying, yet they will say God has called,” Oduro said.

He further expressed concern about deaths among pastors in their late 30s and early 40s, describing the trend as worrying.

“Pastors 39 – 45 are all dying. This is not the time for nonsense. Such burials and deaths are stupid ones,” he added.

The remarks have generated widespread discussion, with the debate focusing on religious beliefs about death and whether the passing of a Christian minister should always be regarded as a divine calling.

Oduro’s comments followed the funeral of Elisha Osei, whose death has received considerable attention among members of Ghana’s Christian community.

His position has challenged a common religious interpretation of the death of pastors and called attention to the circumstances surrounding the deaths of young clergy members.
