I Can’t Sleep, Kanayo Is Chasing Me, Lil Win Cries Out

According to a report by Ghbase Daily on Saturday October 3, 2026, Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Lil Win has opened up about the pressure he is facing over an outstanding balance reportedly owed to members of his Nollywood cast, revealing that the issue has begun to affect his sleep.

The actor made the revelation in a video shared on Thursday, where he spoke candidly about the financial obligations connected to his movie production.

According to Lil Win, the situation has become so troubling that he sometimes wakes up in the early hours of the morning after dreaming about Nigerian veteran actors demanding the money still owed to them.

He specifically mentioned veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo, saying the actor has appeared in his dreams as he struggles with thoughts about settling the outstanding payments.

Lil Win explained that the pressure has left him unable to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep, as the unpaid balance continues to weigh on his mind.

“I can’t sleep. I sometimes wake up at dawn all of a sudden; it feels like I owe them. It feels like Kanayo O. Kanayo is demanding his balance. I didn’t sleep yesterday. I woke up around 2 AM, I was dreaming and they were demanding their balance,” he said.

The comments have drawn attention to the financial challenges that can accompany movie production, particularly when filmmakers work with established actors from other countries.

Lil Win’s remarks suggest that despite the public image surrounding entertainers and the assumption that successful actors have significant financial resources, meeting the full cost of a major production can be difficult.

The Kumawood star also addressed what he described as a common perception that he has enough money to personally finance an entire movie project without relying on other sources of funding.

According to him, people often assume that his involvement in the entertainment industry means he has substantial wealth available to cover production expenses.

He, however, dismissed that assumption in a humorous manner, challenging the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to examine his financial accounts.

“You think I have money, EOCO should come and check my accounts. After they go through my accounts, they will be the ones to even deposit money inside for me,” he joked.

His statement was delivered with humour, but it also highlighted the financial realities behind the production of films and the pressure filmmakers can face when payments to cast members remain outstanding.

Lil Win has been involved in Ghana’s movie industry for years, building a reputation as one of the prominent figures in Kumawood while also expanding his work into film production.

His projects have at various times featured actors from Ghana and Nigeria, creating opportunities for cross-border collaborations within the West African entertainment industry.

The latest comments indicate that the financial side of such collaborations remains a concern for the actor, particularly as he continues to deal with the outstanding balance involving members of his Nollywood cast.

By openly discussing the issue, Lil Win has also offered the public a glimpse into the challenges that can exist behind the scenes of movie productions.

While audiences typically see the finished films, filmmakers are often required to manage actor fees, production expenses and other financial commitments before and after a project is completed.

For Lil Win, the matter appears to have become personal enough to follow him even into his sleep, with the actor humorously describing dreams in which Kanayo O. Kanayo and other Nigerian veterans return to remind him about the money still owed to them.
