Mufumbiro Delivered to High Court to Contest Ruhindi’s Nakawa East Victory

National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro has been brought to the High Court Headquarters in Kampala for the hearing of his election petition challenging Fredrick Ruhindi’s victory in the Nakawa East parliamentary election.

Mufumbiro is challenging Ruhindi’s election as the Member of Parliament for Nakawa East, with the court expected to hear submissions in the petition.

Mufumbiro, who is currently on remand at Luzira Prison, was escorted to court for the proceedings. He is facing charges related to alleged participation in unlawful military drilling.

The January 2026 parliamentary elections were held while Mufumbiro was in custody.
