60% of permanent posts vacant for year or more to be abolished
The federal government decided on Friday to abolish permanent government posts that have remained vacant for one year or longer, with 60 per cent of the vacant posts to be scrapped.
According to a notification issued by the Controller General of Accounts, the posts falling vacant because of transfers, postings or promotions will not be abolished.
The posts to be abolished will be taken from the quotas for initial and direct recruitment.
All relevant accounts offices have been directed to prepare a new vacancy roster accordingly.
They have also been instructed to process promotion cases in line with the revised vacancy roster.
