A pregnant woman who fell into a coma and was forced to deliver her son via a emergency C-section has died 14 years later.
Heather Brown, of Gladewater, Texas, passed away on September 18, just days after her son’s birthday, her family announced on Facebook.
She remained in the coma since 2012 when she was 34 weeks’ pregnant, though Brown had some moments of lucidity along the way, spoke a little, and gripped a relative’s hand.
Loss: Heather Brown, of Gladewater, Texas, passed away on September 18 after she had been in a coma and gave birth to her son in 2012
Heather had been suffering from seizures brought on from an aneurysm at the time, while her husband Sean was serving in Afghanistan, CBS 19 reported.
When she then went into a coma, Sean raced home to be with his wife and their son John who was born on September 15, 2012, and weighed just 4lb 6oz.
Sean remained by his wife’s side since then, and updated the public about her recovery efforts on the Bringing Home The Browns Facebook page.
Over the years, Sean shared how he was able to take Heather home in July 2013 and how she spoke for the first time in almost a year in September 2014.
However, in a post on Wednesday, he heartbrokenly announced that Heather had passed away.
Sean wrote: ‘Thank you all that supported and prayed for us during this journey.’

Sean and Heather had met on a blind date, and the two quickly became inseparable, the loving husband told PEOPLE in 2015.
He said: ‘We would stay up until the wee hours talking, and about a month later, we moved in with each other. We got married the following year, I guess she was willing to put up with me for the rest of her life.’
They soon decided that they wanted to start a family.
Sean said: ‘I could tell she was going to be a great mom. She was a natural with kids.’
However, the couple was originally told Heather was infertile, so when they found out that she was pregnant in 2012 ‘it didn’t sink in at first’.
Still, Sean said Heather couldn’t sit still, even when she was told she had high blood pressure.
By 2015, she was only able to move her fingers, blink her eyes to yes-or-no questions, and whisper a few words.

Sean said at the time: ‘She once said my name and John’s name. I never realized that I had an Achilles’ heel until she wasn’t here.
‘I hurt for her that she has missed out on everything.’
Sean noted that all Heather ever wanted was to have a family and be a mother.
Charity Robinson, the friend who set the two up on their blind date, also called Heather ‘the most nurturing woman you could ever meet’.
Charity said: ‘So, the fact that she can’t wipe away John’s tears or give him a kiss is so heartbreaking.’
A memorial service for Heather’s scheduled for October 10.
