Police escort 63-year-old who was beaten after a North County fender-bender home
ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) – Officers from eight St. Louis-area police departments formed an escort to welcome 63-year-old Lance Jeffries home from the hospital following a violent assault earlier this month.
St. Louis County Police responded around 4:45 p.m. Sept. 19 to a reported crash near the intersection of Jennings Station Road and Shannon Avenue in Jennings. Investigators said Jeffries rear-ended another vehicle.
According to family members and police, Jeffries got out of his car to check on the occupants of the other vehicle. That is when several people exited their car, confronted him angrily, and began assaulting him.
“From what we know, they were angry because my dad hit the back of their car,” said his daughter, Valancia Jeffries. “When he got out of the car to check on the other party, they got out of the car angry and yelling at my dad, and they jumped on my dad.”
A bystander video circulating on social media shows multiple people surrounding Lance—kicking him in the face and chest, dragging him into the street, and repeatedly punching him while he was on the ground.
Tamara Logan, 48, Martinez Logan, 25, Mary Moore, 26, and Davion Alfred, 30, are each charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree assault and second-degree burglary. They are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
