A drug dealer posing as a Deliveroo rider was caught on camera running from police who chased him down and found cannabis and cocaine in his bag.

Officers were on patrol in the Adamstown area of Cardiff when they spotted Nahro Gharib, 25, making an exchange of something that looked suspicious.

In a video shared by South Wales Police called Deliveroo Rider Drugs, officers can be seen questioning Gharib while inspecting his e-bike.

As they speak to him, he insists: ‘It’s a legal bike, I swear to God.’

He then suddenly runs away in an attempt to flee the area.

Bodycam footage shows officers swiftly detaining Gharib before finding several bags of cannabis hidden inside a tub of yoghurt in his fake Deliveroo bag.

Cocaine was also discovered in a separate compartment of the bag.

An officer is heard saying: ‘Floor. Turn over. Put your hands behind your back. Do it now.’

Gharib was told he was being held under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Officers noted how he had dropped a bag in Gold Street.

They opened it to reveal cannabis and cocaine tucked inside.

Police also examined his e-bike and found it was capable of reaching 59.2mph, making it illegal for use on the road, they said.

Gharib, from Cyncoed in Cardiff, has now been sentenced to 20 months in prison and disqualified from driving for 17 months.

He pleaded guilty to possessing with intent to supply Class A cocaine and Class B cannabis.

He also pleaded guilty to acquiring, using and possessing criminal property, namely cash.

The defendant also admitted supplying cannabis and using a motor vehicle on a road and public place without third-party insurance.
