According to a report by Ghanaweb on Thursday, October 1, 2026, a woman who says she is three months pregnant has asked for advice after leaving her husband of five months over a dispute about property ownership. She has now been away from their home for nearly two months.

In a letter to GhanaWeb’s “Dear GhanaWeb” column, she explained that the disagreement began when she asked him to add her name to the documents of his properties. Her husband is developing a complex of five rental apartments in Accra, three of them completed and two still under construction. He also owns other properties.

She said her request came from concern for her future and that of their unborn child should anything happen to him. “Men can die at any time,” she wrote, adding that she was not asking for everything he owns, only some security as his wife.

By her account, the husband declined. He told her she was rushing and reminded her that he acquired the properties before they met, so she had no right to dictate how they were registered. The response hurt her, and the argument grew so serious that she moved out. She hoped the distance would make him reflect on her concerns and come to bring her back.

That has not happened. Almost two months on, she says he has neither called nor visited. She also says he does not know she is pregnant. The silence has led her to question whether he truly loves her, and she suspects he is more interested in protecting his assets for his own children than in saving the marriage.

Despite the hurt, she says she still loves him. But she is unsure how to return to a home where she feels unwanted, and equally unwilling to keep waiting for him to make the first move. She is now asking readers whether she should go back and try to repair the marriage or stay away until he reaches out.
