Cristiano Ronaldo risks six-month suspension as his sister drops huge ‘retirement’ hint on social media
Cristiano Ronaldo could face disciplinary action amid an explosive bust-up with Portugal manager Jorge Jesus.
Cristiano Ronaldo is at risk of a huge suspension after walking out on the Portugal national team – and his sister has hinted that his international career is over.
Ronaldo has been embroiled in controversy after a fall-out with manager Jorge Jesus which stems from him being an unused substitute in the win over Norway.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner stormed down the tunnel and headed to the dressing room as soon as the final whistle sounded.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar did not train ahead of Portugal's game with Denmark in Copenhagen, instead heading to the hotel to complete a gym session.

The situation was set to be resolved with an emergency meeting involving Ronaldo, Jesus and Pedro Proenca, the president of the Portuguese Football Federation.
Proenca flew in urgently in a bid to ease tension but while the discussions appeared positive initially, Jesus was defiant in his pre-match press conference as he made it clear that no player was bigger than the team.
Having apparently made promises to Ronaldo about his minutes, he said: "I can promise whatever I want. I am the manager. I am the coach, and I told the player he was not going to play".
Jesus then said that "no player will ever change my mind" – nor will any president or official.
Ronaldo subsequently left the team's training camp on Wednesday and has reportedly been spotted in Madrid. His decision to do so could carry major punishment from the Portugal Football Federation.
As per ESPN, the FPF disciplinary regulations on unauthorised absence from the national team state: "Any player who, having been duly called up, abandons or fails to attend training, a match, or any activity of the national teams or related to the sporting representation of the FPF or Portugal without justification, shall be sanctioned with a suspension of one to six months and, accessorily if a professional player, a fine between 500 and 1,000 euros."
Ronaldo may not end up serving any kind of suspension as it is very much possible that he has played with his final game for the Portugal national team.
The Al Nassr forward's sister Elma dos Santos Aveiro took to Instagram to blast the national team for its "structuring" as the called the Portuguese "envious" and ignorant".
In the most revealing line, she thanked her brother for "everything" – in what many have interpreted as a sign that he will retire from international duty.
The post on Instagram read: "The national team deserved better structuring. The Portuguese press deserved more competence and fewer guesses. As for the Portuguese… well, they don't deserve the best in anything. We are envious, contemptuous, ignorant, and we deserve to return to the mediocrity we always had in football before CR7. Thank you for everything CR7!".
After making his debut in 2003, Ronaldo has scored a record-breaking146 goals in 234 games for the Portugal and won both the European Championships and Nations League.
In a statement he posted addressing his situation, Ronaldo said: "In due time, I will tell all the Portuguese about the reasons that motivated my departure from the national team, which I always dedicated myself to."
