Betrayed By My Own Blood:Cat Matlala Break Down In Tears After His Sister Reveal A Hidden Secrets
Matlala’s Sister Reveals R60,000 Monthly Allowance in Court
Claudette Masethe, the sister of Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and former director of Medicare24 Tshwane District, has told the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court that she receives a monthly allowance of R60,000 from her boyfriend.
The 31-year-old said the money helps her maintain her household and support her seven-year-old child. Details of her finances emerged during her bail proceedings, as her affidavit was read in court. Masethe is unemployed but studying for a Diploma in Law part-time and is currently in her second year. She also owns a property in Hyde Park, Johannesburg.
Her name has also been linked to Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana defender Grant Kekana, although reports indicate that the alleged relationship has not been established as a fact in court.
The proceedings also brought renewed attention to claims previously made by Matlala before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee. In November 2025, he said he instructed Masethe to withdraw R300,000 in cash from an FNB branch, alleging that the money was connected to payments he claimed were sought by former police minister Bheki Cele. Cele denied having business links with Matlala.
Masethe, Tsakane Matlala and Given Makofane each received R20,000 bail in the separate lease-fraud case. The State alleges that fraudulent documents were used to secure a R95,000-a-month Waterkloof property lease.
The matter involving the three co-accused was postponed to 29 October 2026, while Matlala’s bail application is scheduled for 14 and 15 October. The allegations remain before the courts and have not been proven.
