The BBC Has An Early Christmas Present For Fans Of Amandaland

On Wednesday afternoon, the BBC announced that filming was underway on a new Christmas special of Amandaland, following the success of last year’s festive episode.

While the 2025 seasonal special featured a one-off appearance from Jennifer Saunders, it’s been revealed that Lucy Punch will be joined by another familiar face in the new episode, in the form of Breeders star Daisy Haggard.

Daisy will be paying a visit to the Motherland spin-off as Millie, an old school chum of Amanda’s.

“There’s mistletoe, cheese straws and a middle-aged wannabe sexy Santa. We are all delighted to be back again for an Amandaland Xmas Spesh!” Lucy enthused in a statement.

Writers Holly Walsh and Laurence Rickard added: “We are utterly thrilled that the BBC have given us the ultimate Christmas present of another special – and an hour-long one at that!

“Cameras are now rolling and we are so sure that you’ll love this gift we’ve got for you, we’re not even enclosing the receipt.”

Following this year’s Christmas special, Amandaland will then return for a third season in 2027.

Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that there’ll be no seasonal episodes of Mrs Brown’s Boys this year, while its writer and star Brendan O’Carroll recovers from a medical incident.

A Doctor Who special was also shelved when it was revealed the show was being “put out to competitive tender”.
