Prepare for Morning and Afternoon Rains Tomorrow If You Live in These Areas – Kenya Met

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast light morning showers in parts of the Coast on Thursday, October 1, with several western counties also likely to experience afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

According to the weather forecast issued on Wednesday, September 30, light showers are expected over a few places in Mombasa, Kwale and Lamu during the morning. Kilifi and Tana River could also experience sunny intervals with a chance of light showers in a few areas.

The showers will give way to generally sunny conditions in the afternoon across the Coast, although the possibility of light rainfall remains in a few places in Kilifi and Tana River.

In western Kenya, afternoon rainfall is expected to be more notable, with Trans Nzoia forecast to experience sunny intervals accompanied by a chance of light showers and thunderstorms over a few places.

Bungoma and Busia are also expected to record sunny intervals with light showers and thunderstorms in a few areas during the afternoon. Siaya could similarly experience sunny intervals with a chance of light showers and thunderstorms over a few places.

The forecast indicates that Nairobi will remain mainly sunny on Thursday, with partly cloudy conditions expected at night. The city is forecast to record a maximum temperature of 28°C and a minimum of 13°C.

Elsewhere, most parts of the country are expected to experience sunny intervals during the day. Counties including Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Meru, Embu, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kiambu, Murang’a, Nakuru and Kisumu are among those expected to remain largely dry.

KMD also warned of strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots in parts of Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit and Isiolo counties.

Temperatures will vary widely, with Mandera expected to reach a high of 37°C, while Turkana could record 37°C. Nyandarua will have the lowest forecast minimum temperature at 7°C.
