“Husband snatcher who is taking her in-law to court” – Drama as crowd berate Judy Austin for dragging Rita Edochie to court

Nollywood actress Judy Austin was reportedly taunted by a crowd during her court appearance in Abuja on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, where she faced her in-law, actress Rita Edochie.

Judy had previously filed a writ of summons against Rita, seeking damages of ₦1 billion, a retraction and public apology, ₦50 million in additional relief, 10 per cent post-judgment interest, among other demands.

The two actresses appeared before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja for the latest proceedings in the case.

Photos circulating online showed Judy arriving at and leaving the court premises following the hearing. She was also reportedly met by members of the crowd who taunted her as she made her way out.

Unlike Judy, who appeared at the court without her husband, Yul Edochie, or other visible supporters, Rita attended the proceeding alongside supporters, including fans who reportedly travelled from abroad to show solidarity with her.

The courtroom appearance has since generated reactions online, with attention focused on the contrasting support around both women as the legal dispute continues.
