Govt cuts petrol by 14 paisas, diesel by Rs1.89 per litre

The federal government has reduced the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, with the revised rates taking effect from October 1, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs1.89 per litre, bringing it down from Rs402.24 to Rs400.35 per litre.

The price of petrol, or motor spirit, has been reduced by 14 paisas per litre, taking it from Rs387.54 to Rs387.40 per litre.

The Petroleum Division said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority revised the ex-depot prices under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The ministry said the changes were necessitated by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and other incidental costs.
