DWP to revoke driving licences for benefits claimants from Thursday

New powers for the Department for Work and Pensions to strip driving licences from people on common benefits begin on Thursday. The DWP is planning a crackdown under the Labour Party government, with enhanced powers.Going forward from October 1, the DWP can strip driving licences “as a last resort in the most serious cases where DWP considers the individual has the means to pay but is refusing, or avoiding payment, without reasonable excuse”.
