DCP SG John Methu Leads Party Allies to Convey Gachagua’s Condolences to Martha Karua

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Secretary General John Methu has led party-aligned leaders in mourning with former Justice Minister Martha Karua following the death of her father, Mwalimu Jackson Karua.

Methu conveyed condolences on behalf of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and the DCP during a visit to the Karua family.

“On behalf of H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH, and our DCP party, we condoled with the family of Hon. Martha Karua who have lost their dad, Mzee Karua,” Methu said.

The DCP official also praised Karua for what he described as her consistent stand on human rights and her long involvement in Kenya’s political affairs.

“Martha Karua has been a very firm defender of human rights. She has been very consistent in her politics,” Methu said.

Methu was accompanied by Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina, Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu, East African Legislative Assembly MP Kanini Kega and Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia, among other leaders aligned with the DCP.

The delegation joined a growing list of political leaders who have visited the Karua family following the death of her father. Their messages have focused on his role as a father, teacher and influence in the lives of his children.

Karua announced her father’s death on September 27, saying she and her siblings had spent time with him earlier that day. She recalled that the family sang one of his favourite gospel hymns during the visit before she travelled back to Nairobi.

News of his death reached Karua while she was on her way back to the capital.

Mwalimu Jackson Karua was a teacher and family patriarch who remained largely outside the political spotlight despite the prominence his daughter later attained in public life.

The condolence visits have brought together leaders from different political circles as they pay tribute to the late Mwalimu Karua and stand with his family during the mourning period.
