Chairman Wontumi hit with sad news

Incarcerated former Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has lost his sister.

Former NPP Ashanti Regional Communications Officer Paul Yandoh confirmed the unfortunate incident in an interview on Nhyira FM’s Kuro Yi Mu Nsem.

According to Mr. Yandoh, Wontumi’s sister became depressed and devastated following the arrest and imprisonment of her brother.

Although he did not disclose her personal details, he claimed that she collapsed after the development and never remained the same.

He said the family had been deeply affected by his incarceration.

“I will say that this unfortunate news is because of the way NDC jailed Wontumi. She was depressed and devastated,” he said.

Paul Yandoh further claimed that Wontumi’s father was also severely affected, saying he stopped eating properly after his son was jailed.

Describing Wontumi as a prominent member of the family, Mr Yandoh questioned the treatment meted out to him following his arrest.

He insisted that his sister’s death was linked to the emotional distress caused by the situation surrounding Wontumi.

“His sister wouldn’t have died but for the way he was treated,” he said.

Mr. Yandoh announced that the one-week observance of Wontumi’s sister is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, at Kuntenase in the Ashanti region.
