Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz expects Thursday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire to produce an entertaining contest, with both teams possessing quality players and coaching staff.

The Black Stars will face the Elephants in Bouake in their opening Group C fixture, with Ghana looking to make a positive start to their qualification campaign.

Queiroz acknowledged the quality of the Ivorian side but believes Ghana also have enough talent to compete in what should be a closely contested encounter.

“We are here to play a good match against a great team, great players, good coaches,” Queiroz said.

“What I can say is, I think the fans will enjoy a lot the game tomorrow because we have also great players, great staff in our team, great potential.

“This is what is good in football, that the fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a great match tomorrow.”

The Black Stars have endured several changes to their squad ahead of the game, with Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo and Jordan Ayew among the notable absentees.

Queiroz has subsequently added several players to the squad as he prepares for his first competitive game since returning for a second spell as Ghana coach.

Ghana will hope to secure a positive result in Bouake before returning home to host The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 27.
