‘Terrible Things Are Happening’, Mary Njoku Cries Out

Nollywood actress and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ROK TV, Mary Njoku, has decried the terrible things happening in the country.

The 41-year-old actress pointed out how people are cooking with dyes, the NAFDAC boss is laughing at us, and over 30 young men have died in the custody of authorities.

She noted how terrible things are happening in the country, and we are all becoming so used to them that we no longer expect anyone to be held accountable.

According to her, despite it all, Nigerians are moving on to the next tragedy; the internet is now filled with hashtags, fake outrage, demands for justice, and then silence.

“Not just that terrible things are happening. But that we are becoming so used to them that we no longer expect anyone to be held accountable.

“People are cooking with dye. Our children might be drinking poison disguised as juice. And NAFDAC, Mummy, is laughing at us.

“Now, over 30 young men have died in the custody of the authorities. Again, we are already moving on to the next tragedy. Another hashtag. Another outrage. Another demand for justice. And then silence.

“This is not normal. I am just tired, I guess.”

Sunday Telegraph recalls that during the heat of the kidnapped children in Oyo State, Mary Njoku questioned whether Nigerians have become numb to the endless reports of bandits, kidnappings, and insecurity.

The ROK Studios boss expressed sadness at how industries that should be competing globally end up stuck in Nigeria vs Nigeria, rather than Nigeria vs the world.

She noted that we are busy tearing each other down and fighting over who becomes the local champion, rather than building together.
