Across from one of Africa’s busiest slave trade monuments, Ghana’s first presidential library has spent a decade locked, decaying, a pawn in a battle over who should run it.
The Atlantic is rarely quiet here. Its waves crash against the rocks below Cape Coast Castle, the imposing white fortress on Ghana’s southern coastline where enslaved Africans were once held before being forced through the ‘Door of No Return’ and shipped across the Atlantic.
