Sissala East MCE cautions Youth against Drug abuse and indiscipline

Tumu, (UWR), March 07, GNA – Mr Adamu Bening Yakubu, the Sissala East Municipal Chief Executive, has cautioned young people in the municipality against drug abuse, describing it as a growing threat to their health, future, and the peace of communities.

Mr Yakubu therefore advised the youth to focus on education, skills training, and entrepreneurship to secure a better future.

Speaking at the 69th Independence Day celebration held at the Tumu Sports Stadium, the MCE said this year’s theme, “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” highlights the need for citizens to work hard and support government’s efforts aimed at improving the economy and creating opportunities for the youth.

He also encouraged students to remain disciplined, respect authority, and take their education seriously, stressing that the future of the country depended on them.

He noted that the government continues to focus on infrastructure development, job creation, and improved access to education and healthcare across the country.

Mr Yakubu also disclosed that work on the Wa–Tumu–Bolgatanga road is progressing steadily and expected to improve transportation, reduce travel time, and boost economic activities in the area.

According to him, the Municipal Assembly is also prioritising development in key sectors including education, agriculture, health, sanitation, security and livelihood support for farmers, traders, women, and the youth.

Mr Yakubu commended security agencies, teachers, health workers, farmers, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the development of the municipality.

All the public schools numbering 1,400 basic pupils participated in the match pass, which was overseen by the MCE.

Mr Lewil Charles, the Municipal Director of Education stated that independence was not only freedom from colonial rule.

He explained that it was freedom from ignorance, mediocrity and indiscipline saying, “Let us use the occasion to renew our determination and commitment to quality education and national development”.

The Independence Day celebration brought together traditional leaders, security agencies, students, teachers, and residents who participated in a march past to commemorate Ghana’s 69th independence.
