Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema has stirred fresh reactions online after opening up about the kind of woman he would like to date.
The singer, who has been trending for different reasons in recent days, recently made headlines after being nominated as one of the “most handsome man alive 2026” by Netizen Magazine. He also spoke about his background and life before fame. However, what caught the attention of many fans was his honest revelation about his relationship preferences.
Rema said he prefers to date women who keep a low profile on social media. According to him, he is more attracted to girls who have small followings or private accounts, rather than those who are always active online.
He explained that he cannot date a girl who talks too much or constantly posts on social media, stressing that he prefers his relationships to be private and away from public attention.
“I don’t like girls who tweet too much, talk too much, or post too much,” he said. “If I want to date a girl, I’ll go for someone with about 1,000 followers or even 500 followers. A private-page girl.”
The singer added that he does not like hyped relationships that are constantly in the public eye, noting that he prefers to keep his love life closed and personal.
Rema further gave reasons for his choice, saying he values trust and confidentiality in relationships. According to him, he may want to share deep personal matters with his partner, but a girl who talks too much could mistakenly reveal such information to others.
“One thing that worries me about girls who talk too much is that I will tend to tell them many things,” he said. “Sometimes, they might mistakenly leak my personal information to their friends or people who cannot get such answers from me directly.”
His comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some fans agreeing with his views on privacy, while others argued that being expressive should not be a problem in relationships.
