Justin Frimpong Kodua is the General Secretary of the NPP
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has rebuffed allegations of vote buying in the party’s primaries on January 31, 2026.
According to him, observations made by the party so far show no evidence of delegates being given money to influence their voting decisions.
He stated that the false allegations are being spread by individuals seeking to undermine the credibility and integrity of the elections.
NPP Primary: The men who have more to lose than the contenders
Speaking in an interview with Adom TV, the NPP General Secretary dismissed the claims and urged delegates to remain focused.
“So far I have not seen anyone giving money to delegates, so such claims would only denigrate the party’s image. Money will not influence people, so it should be disregarded. If you give me money I will take it for transport, but so far there is no such information,” he clarified.
The 2026 NPP primaries are taking place across the country, with over 200,000 delegates expected to cast their ballots to elect a new flagbearer.
The presidential primaries, scheduled for January 31, 2026, is shaping up to be one of the most keenly contested in the party’s history as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections.
Five candidates are contesting for the party’s top slot: former Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong; Abetifi MP, Dr Bryan Acheampong; Bosomtwe MP, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum; and former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.
