Accra, Jan. 10, GNA – The Ghana Education Service (GES) has prohibited the registration of unqualified candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
A statement issued and signed by Mr Daniel Fenyi, the Head of Public Relations at the GES, said management had observed that some Heads of Senior High and Technical Schools were engaging in unauthorised registration of candidates for the examination, often in exchange for fees.
It said any head or school official found to be involved in such unauthorised registration, including the charging of fees, would be guilty of misconduct and abuse of office.
The statement stressed that “a head of school is authorised to register only Form Three students whose academic records and progression from Form One to Form Three are duly traceable in the school’s database.”
“The registration of Form Two students or private candidates by any school official is strictly prohibited.”
The statement cautioned that any breach of the directive would attract severe sanctions in accordance with GES and the West African Examinations Council’s regulations.
