Semper Fi ended Home Stars’ unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory at the Teshie McDan Astroturf on Saturday afternoon, claiming their third consecutive win in the Access Bank Division One League Zone III.
The result sees the team move to the top of the standings, having collected 14 points from seven matches.
Kelvin Awuku opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half, giving Semper Fi an early lead. Samuel Owusu then doubled the advantage with a well-taken goal before halftime.
The visitors, who had been unbeaten in their previous six league matches, responded in the second half when Kofi Boakye converted a penalty, but it proved insufficient to prevent Semper Fi from claiming all three points.
The victory not only ends Home Stars’ impressive run but also reinforces Semper Fi’s strong start to the season. The team will now turn their attention to their next fixture, an away clash against Great Ambition, who sit at the bottom of the table.
