We’ve planted 42 million trees – Lands Minister –

Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor has announced that since the inception of the Green Ghana Day in 2021, a remarkable 42 million trees have been planted across the nation.

The initiative, aimed at fostering a greener environment, has garnered significant momentum, with millions of trees set to be added this year.

This year’s Green Ghana Day will be marked on June 7, with an ambitious target of planting an additional 10 million trees.

During the launch event for the 2024 Green Ghana Day in Tamale on Tuesday, April 16, the Lands Minister emphasized the importance of collective effort to ensure the success of the exercise and urged all citizens to participate.

“I am happy and proud to report that in the last three years of its implementation, some 42 million trees have been planted across the country in both on and off reserves, consistently exceeding our targets every year. And these have been verified by independent audit.

“This is truly impressive. I want to use this opportunity to on behalf of the President of the Republic, thank all Ghanaians and all residents of Ghana who have supported us over the years to achieve this feat.”
