Gov Makinde reveals four subjects he loved in secondary school, that made him became an engineer

According to a news that was published by The Nigerian Tribune Newspaper Online this morning, it was reported that the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, during an interview that was conducted for him to mark his birthday, has revealed the four subjects he loved while he was in secondary school, that made him became an engineer.

When he was talking during the interview, he said when he was promoted to Form 4, he was among the first three top students or so and he knew that they would take him to Form 4A (which was a science class in his school) at that time. So, he started thinking about what to become in life at that point, as he thought of being a medical doctor or an engineer.

He said, “But then, I found out that I was not really enjoying Biology. At that point in time, I knew the subjects that I liked were Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Geography. So, I thought I would either be an engineer or a pilot, because my knowledge of Geography was very good and it reflected in the result of my WAS then.”

After he wrote JAMB examination, he discussed with his father, who wanted him to be a medical doctor but, he told him that he does not like Biology and that he needed to choose a branch of Engineering.

He said, “I wanted to be a Mechanical Engineer, not because I love the course or that I had an inkling of what its impact on the society was, but because those studying Mechanical Engineering fancifully called it ‘mech engine.’”
