As the race for the presidency continues to gather steam across the Nigerian political landscape ahead of the 2023 general elections, veteran broadcaster, and public affairs analyst, Rufai Oseni has come out to share his thoughts on the recent challenge thrown by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at his counterpart from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a debate on the controversy surrounding his age, health status, and educational background.
While speaking during a session of ARISE TV’s ‘The Breakfast Show’ on Monday, Rufai opined that it was high time presidential candidates reveal their personal records to the public domain in order for the masses to know who they are voting into power.
He said; “As for the presidential candidate of the PDP asking about the name, age of the APC candidate and everything, I think politics should be about character. Everybody should be able to release data about who they are and bring it to the fore. Let us know the school they attend, and let us know their names.
We have to know everything concerning them, so we can have a robust campaign and we can know the candidates truly. I think this is a time for all the candidates to carry out a personal audit on themselves, and a ‘KYC’ (Know Your Customer) for the Nigerian people. Let us even know them. We have to know their medical records, and tax returns, let’s have everything. This will help us get the best person possible.”
