Chuks Ohuegbe, the director of publications for the Pilot Newspaper, has said that the APC still has the opportunity to change its presidential candidate. Ohuegbe mentioned this on AIT News while addressing the concerns of some Nigerians regarding the party’s flagbearer.
Addressing the topic, Ohuegbe said, “Ahead of the APC presidential primary, the now-candidate insisted that it was his turn.” The president has since taken a backseat, and Tinubu is now the leader of the party. The party chieftains may not have the courage to confront him and ask if he can step down for a review. This is where they have found themselves.
He continued, “It is left for the party’s leadership to summon the courage to review alternatives.” They still have the opportunity to make changes, as the electoral act says that if a candidate steps down within a specific period, the party can look inward to pick another candidate. Tinubu has a running mate, and if they get to a point where he cannot continue, the APC still has time to make the amendments.
