The Labour Party (LP) has announced the postponement of its presidential campaigns in Ekiti and Ondo states earlier slated for 15th and 16th December respectively.
The party, in a terse statement on its verified Twitter handle, on Wednesday, while regretting the inconveniences caused by the postponement, said a new date will be announced.
The announcement read, “Our earlier scheduled Presidential Campaign Rally in Ekiti & Ondo for December 15th and 16th, 2022 are therefore POSTPONED due to some unavoidable and exceptional circumstances beyond control. An updated date will be revealed. We are sorry for the trouble this has caused.
The delay follows a campaign by the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in Kogi State on Tuesday, during which he pledged to raise the minimum wage and put the emphasis on production rather than consumption.
“Families no longer exist among Nigerians today. Obi addressed the crowd, saying, “We want to secure Nigeria and bring the family back. We also pledge to protect the rule of law in Nigeria.
“We want to ensure that there is a rule of law in Nigeria and that you are not mistreated. Nobody would bother you or treat you improperly. In the event of anything, we would follow the law.
