Upper Denkyira West District Assembly To Construct An Ultra -Modern Palm Processing Mill – DCE

The Upper Denkyira west District Assembly in the Central region, has put measures in place to construct an ultra-moderm Oil Palm Processing Mill at Nkwantanum.

 

The District Chief Executive for Upper Denkyira West Mr. Richmond Koduah said, Plans are far advanced in the construction of an ultra-modern Processing Mill to process oil palm into palm oil and other bye-products for domestic consumption and export.

 

The initiative seeks to support the government of Ghana’s ‘Adopting Oil Palm as main crop’ under the flagship programme of Planting for Exports and Rural Development (PERD) Policy and the one District one factory.

Meanwhile, Philiph Owusu has been adjudged the 2022 overall best farmer for the Upper Denkyira west District of the central region.

He emerged as winner out of 9 farmers recognized for their had work at the 38th National Farmers Day held at Denkyira Ntow.

Items presented to him included motorbike, fridge, mattress, knapsack sprayer and others.

Speaking in an interview with Mohammed Radiu Dinn Rasko, Mr. Philiph Owusu, the 2022 overall best farmer in Upper Denkyira west, expressed worried over the abnormal hike in agro-chemical prices in the market.

“The prices of pesticides and weedicides has made farming difficult.”

The Direction of Agriculture, Upper Denkyira west Mr. Eric Kwaku Twum urged the youth in Ghana especially those into small scale mining to invest part of their income into agribusiness.
