On Friday, November 25, 2022, three hundred and eight officers were appointed into the senior officer corps of the Ghana Police Service by the vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The graduation ceremony at the Ghana Police Academy in Tesano, Accra, comprised three hundred and three cadet officers, and five officer cadets constitute police academy course 51, the highest intake of the academy since its inception.
Cadet Officer Peasah Darkwa Princeton emerged as the Overall Best Cadet Officer.
The vice president urged the public to come on board and charged officers on parade and all other police officers to note that the expectation of the Ghanaian public is for them to be proactive and accountable to them.
“You should be first, exemplary law-abiding citizens for others to emulate. As professionals, always treat people how you wish yourselves, your spouse, or your children to be treated. Therefore, in enforcing the law, be fair, firm and fearless,” Bawumia said.
The 308 officers are pioneers of the training reform agenda as the programme now has a blend of theory and practical training modules, a four-week High-Risk Training and six weeks of Practical Field Attachment. The successful graduates got appointed into the ranks of deputy superintendent of police and assistant superintendents of police.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia congratulated the graduates and urged them to work with the communities to improve safety and security for socio-economic development.
