The chains on a trailer timber truck logs unexpectedly came away at Bogoso in the Prestea Huni Valley municipality of the Western Region, leaving several people presumed dead.
Although the exact reason of the disaster is unknown, it was reported that the chains broke at the Bogoso roundabout near the central market.
Despite Saturday being a busy market day, vendors went amok and many left their goods behind.
The terrible accident which occured fell off three cars and two tricycles.
Several of the logs hit cars that were parked.
Emergency services personnel and representatives from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) flocked to the area in an effort to preserve lives.
