In 2021, the Ghana Education Service (GES) issued a sack letter to Michael Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Teacher Kwadwo.
In effect, his license which guarantees his employment with GES has been suspended while he has been relieved of his position.
While the GES attributed his dismissal to gross insubordination among other charges, several critics said the popular teacher who advocated for teaching professionals and students was booted out for his activism.

According to Teacher Kwadwo, GES revoked his license over his constant back and forth with the statutory institution.
But to the best knowledge of Joyce Dzidzor Mensah, all is not well with Teacher Kwadwo following his GES dismissal.
